A Healthier Approach To Caring

Update from Administrator – July 25, 2020

Dear Resident, Family Member or Responsible Party,

We hope this letter finds you well.   As we mentioned in previous emails, our recreation team has been very busy ensuring that our residents continue to communicate with loved ones via FaceTime calls, window visits and perimeter visits.

The new Bayview TV channel has been a wonderful tool providing the ability to communicate with all the residents at the same time while still adhering to the public gathering limitation of 5 people or less.  Every morning at 8am, Bayview Live begins with daily news and weather. The daily activities are also announced at this time.

Early on during the pandemic, Athena worked to provide all centers access to tablets, so residents had weekly communication with their families via FaceTime, Zoom, and/or other video platforms, when window-type visits were not an available option.   These tablets, located on each unit, have games and activities uploaded, and are always available to the residents for use.

For two consecutive weeks, one resident each week tested positive for COVID-19.  Although symptom free, they were both transferred to a sister Athena facility.  They will return to their home at Bayview as soon as they are considered COVID recovered.  We are pleased to announce neither residents nor staff tested positive from our most recent round of testing last week.

Our current in-house numbers are:

  • 36 COVID-19 recovered residents
  • 0 COVID-19 pending residents
  • 0 COVID-19 positive current residents/ 2 COVID-19 positive transferred resident
  • 0 COVID-19 positive employees

Due to the pandemic, most large gatherings have been canceled this year.  Although our local Alzheimer’s walk, which usually takes place in September has been canceled, we are still raising money for the Alzheimer’s Association.   Please refer to our Facebook page for a chance to win prizes through our monthly fundraising contests and events.

Here at Bayview, we continue to send prayers and support to all the other states presently dealing with peaks in new cases.  As always, please remain vigilant and stay healthy and safe.
