A Healthier Approach To Caring

Update from Administrator – February 8, 2021

Dear Resident, Family Member or Responsible Party,

As always, we hope this letter finds you safe and healthy.

Currently, we have one COVID-19 positive resident who was in their admissions quarantine period with no COVID-19 positive employees.

We continue to offer on a daily basis IPads/ Tablets for our residents to use for video visits, phone calls, etc. to ensure that you and your loved ones remain in contact, as well as offering them for recreational purposes. To schedule a facetime call please contact the recreation department at 860-444-1175.

We successfully administered our second round of the COVID-19 vaccine on Thursday, January 28th to both staff and residents. This was also a first round for those who were unable to receive the vaccine in early January. These individuals will receive their second dose on February 18th. The vaccine was delivered and administered by pharmacists from CVS. The same set-up and procedures will take place during the third round.

With the first round complete in many nursing homes, the state has already reported a decrease in nursing home cases of COVID-19 among residents and staff, further proof that the vaccine works and we’re doing our part to eliminate COVID-19!

We will continue to take all necessary precautions after the vaccine is administered, including wearing personal protective equipment and conducting regular testing, to ensure the safety of our residents and staff. We will also continue to follow the guidance and recommendations of our public health officials to determine how and when to adjust our policies for visitations and social activities and keep you updated.

Speaking of visitation, we are receiving many questions on whether in-center visitation can resume once vaccination of the center is complete. As mentioned earlier in the this and other emails, we must remain vigilant. The vaccine will not provide immediate protection and we still need to see prevalence in the surrounding communities decline. Currently, community prevalence remains very high. Therefore, we need to continue with the same visitation and infection control practices put in place and enhanced throughout this pandemic. We will also continue to follow the guidance and recommendations of our public health officials (CDC, CMS, DPH) to determine how and when to adjust our policies for visitations and social activities and keep you updated.

As always, thank you for your patience and please stay safe and healthy!
