A Healthier Approach To Caring

Update From Administrator – August 13, 2020

August 13, 2020

Dear Resident, Family Member or Responsible Party,

On Sunday we began our National Nursing Home Week celebration.  There are quite a few fun activities planned throughout the week for both residents and staff to enjoy together.  The recreation department outdid themselves once again with internationally themed “Words of Wisdom” days.

Dietary has  provided meals and snacks which correspond with the international theme of the day.   Yesterday we had a blast during resident and staff game day. There were different activities and games planned for each department to participate in with the residents.

We have decorated some of the hallways at Bayview with wisdom trees.  They have unique and insightful words of wisdom and we would love to make more trees for the end of the week.

Weekly testing for COVID-19 continues, and we are pleased to announce that, over the last 2 weeks, none of our residents tested positive for the virus.  Yesterday, we were informed that one employee had a positive test result and we still have another employee, who tested positive, out for another week.  This is precisely why it is crucial to continue with weekly testing.   It enables us to locate a potential infection risk before our residents and staff become exposed.

Our current numbers are:

  • 38 COVID-19 recovered residents
  • 0 COVID-19 pending residents
  • 0 COVID-19 positive current residents
  • 2 COVID-19 positive employees

We would like to set up a “Town Hall” meeting for next week and encourage residents and family members to submit suggestions for topics that they would be interested in hearing about and discussing during these live events.   We will send an email with an invitation once it is scheduled.

Hopefully, if our residents continue to test negative for COVID-19, we will be able to reduce restrictions under the guidance of the CDC and Department of Public Health.   In order to achieve this we must remain vigilant and not let our guard down.   By continuing to follow social distance guidelines – always wearing masks in public, and proper hand washing techniques – we will continue to dramatically reduce infection risks.    As always, please stay healthy and safe.
