National Nursing Home Week – August 9-15, 2020
July 30, 2020
Dear Resident, Family Member or Responsible Party,
National Skilled Nursing Care Week, formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, is one of the most important events of the year for nursing homes. Held annually since 1967, the observance is sponsored by the American Health Care Association and recognizes the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
National Skilled Nursing Care Center Week was scheduled for May 10-16, 2020. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, all of Athena Health Care’s facilities postponed the event until August 9th through the 15th this year. “Sharing Our Wisdom” is the 2020 theme for National Skilled Nursing Care Center Week.
The American Health Care Association offers insight on the theme: “’Sharing Our Wisdom’ to celebrate skilled nursing centers, and their residents and staff, by showcasing the insight, purpose and wisdom to be learned from our seniors, those living with dementia and people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Residents offer a unique perspective based on their life experiences, reminding us to be present, celebrate the small moments, and value connections. NSNCW 2020 will focus on the collective wisdom that residents can offer and share.”
Here at Bayview, we have many fun activities planned for the week. We are decorating the building with “wisdom trees” flowing with “words of wisdom” leaves. Please return the flyer attached to this email with your “words of wisdom” by Tuesday August 4th. We are looking forward to sharing your insightful “words of wisdom” with our residents and employees.
