Kim Carlson Speaks with the Appropriations Committee
Kim Carlson, administrator of Bayview, spoke with Senator Osten, Representative Walker, and the members of the Appropriations Committee at the Public Budget Hearing Tuesday, March 5, at 4 p.m.
If the state continues to turn a blind eye to the crisis nursing homes across Connecticut have been facing in recent years, Carlson asks the question, “who will care for our families, even for ourselves as we age?” State of Connecticut nursing homes have not seen additional Medicaid help in over twelve years. They are now at that point where they cannot go another year without the additional funds. Carlson urges state policymakers to recognize that it is their responsibility to ensure nursing homes receive a budget that can allow them to continue to deliver quality skilled nursing care. Policymakers must recognize the importance of this year’s fiscal budget in providing quality care to our aging population.
