Update from Administrator – April 29, 2021
April 28, 2021
Dear Resident, Family Member or Responsible Party,
Here we are, another week closer to warmer, spring-like weather. Great news for us all to get back outside and enjoy the fresh air and some sunshine. As we have mentioned before in these updates, our outside visits remain the recommended means of visitation for nursing home residents and families, per the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Please take advantage of the weather and schedule a visitation with us over the next week. We all know how important visitations are to our loved ones.
ALL APPOINTMENTS with admissions, finance, and social work or any other department must be made in advance via a telephone call. We are not open to walk-in appointments and or tours. Our building is strictly open at this time for you to visit with your loved one. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we must limit the foot traffic within the building. Thank you in advance for your patience.
Visitation
- If you are planning to visit, we ask that you continue to contact the Recreation Department at 860-444-1175 to schedule an appointment for an indoor visit, outdoor visit, window visit or virtual visit using our technology (iPads, tablets, calls, etc.)
- The CDC and the Department of Public Health (DPH) continue to update their guidance for nursing homes – and we’ll keep you up to date when we make changes to our policies and procedures. If you are unfamiliar with our current protocols, please ask us.
- When an outbreak is detected among residents or staff, all visitations must be suspended except for compassionate care visits, until at least one round of facility-wide testing is completed.
- Outdoor visitation is not affected by an internal outbreak on a unit, while we await the results of the initial round of testing.
Recreation / Activities:
- We are delighted that our small, socially distanced group activities have been taking place and have been successful. We are looking forward to the many upcoming outdoor activities being planned for the warmer weather.
Dining:
- A reminder on bringing food to the center for your loved one. Please keep in mind any dietary restrictions for your loved one and understand that per the CDC and DPH guidelines, you and your loved one may not eat during a visit, due to mask requirements. However, we will ensure that your loved one enjoys the meal, treat, etc. once the visit is complete.
Vaccination Update
- We are pleased to announce that we had a “catch-up” clinic on Tuesday 4/27. Several of our residents were able to receive their vaccine!
- Regional hospitals are working on plans to offer the first dose of a COVID vaccine to their patients before being discharged to nursing homes.
We hope you have a great week and look forward to seeing you!!
