Update From Administrator – July 1, 2020
August 1, 2020
Dear Resident, Family Member or Responsible Party,
We hope this email finds you safe and healthy. We continue to thank our team for the hard work they do while in our center. Their chosen careers were never simple or easy to begin with, but working through a pandemic and under such troubled times as they do today, only makes their jobs even tougher. They received wonderful recognition during the height of the pandemic, and we want them to know how much we appreciate them every day! Additional recognition is coming as we celebrate during our version of National Nursing Home Week from August 9th-15th. We have attached the words of wisdom form again to this email. Please decorate the form and email back your words of wisdom by Tuesday August 4th. We are looking forward to decorating Bayview’s wisdom trees with everyone’s unique and insightful words of wisdom.
We continue with weekly testing of both staff and residents. As you know, a couple of our LTC residents tested positive for Covid a few weeks ago. Fortunately, both are now considered Covid recovered. One has already returned to Bayview and the other will be returning on Monday. Last week, while none of our residents tested positive, one of our employee’s test came back positive. Although they were symptom free, they will quarantine at home for at least 14 days and/or until they are considered Covid recovered and no longer a risk to our residents and staff. This is the exact reason why it is crucial to continue with weekly testing. It enables us to locate and determine a potential infection risk before our residents and staff become exposed.
Our current in-house numbers are:
• 37 COVID-19 recovered in-house residents
• 1 COVID-19 recovered resident returning to Bayview on Monday
• 0 COVID-19 pending residents
• 0 COVID-19 positive current residents
• 1 COVID-19 positive employee
Although Connecticut has made tremendous progress reducing infection rates, we must remain vigilant and not let our guard down. By continuing to follow social distance guidelines, always wearing masks in public, and continuing proper hand washing practices, hopefully we will continue to dramatically reduce infection risks. As always, please stay healthy and safe.
